How to Add Characters, Enemies and NPCs into your Unity 3D Game Kit game?
Today, Sovereign Moon Studios, the makers of your favorite NoCode game development course, are excited because we’ve just launched our most recent course video that walks you through the steps required to add additional characters or NPCs into your 3D Game Kit video game.
Let’s jump in.
Introduction to Adding More Characters
Adding NPCs (non player characters) can help you bring your 3D game kit video game to life. Out of the box, this free Unity asset works wonders for no-code game developers. However, your world will start to feel small quickly if your game is made up only of Ellen, Chomper (your enemy) and some fireflies. In order to make your world feel more complete, you need to add additional characters into your world. But how?
How to Add Additional Characters into 3D Game Kit
In this tutorial I’m going to walk you through the steps required to add additional characters into your scene. There are many different ways you can do this and many different reasons why you would want to do this. Some of you might want to insert new enemies, others will want to insert NPCs to help drive the narrative of the story along by allowing your character to interact and talk with them. In two of our previous tutorials we talked about how to implement a dialogue system into your game. In another tutorial we talked about how to change your main character from Ellen to any 3D model of your choice.
Now in today’s tutorial we’re going to introduce you to NPCs by teaching you how to insert them into your scene and give them basic animations. However, if you want more advanced lessons on NPC integration you’ll need to enroll in our no-code game development online course.

Where to Get Free Characters From
There are many different places on the web where you can get free and paid 3D characters from. The site we’ll use for this tutorial is Mixamo because Mixamo is a free site that allows you to download both characters and animations and they allow you to use their assets in your games (even commercial games) for free.
Conclusion
Having ability to change your character within Unity’s 3D Game Kit is the missing ingredient for many game makers who want to use the free asset to make their no-code video games. However, without a means to change the character, many people will opt to look for alternatives to 3D game kit to get more control over their character’s appearance. However, with the addition of our most recent course tutorial, this is no longer necessary. At Sovereign Moon Studios, we make changing your game’s character a breeze. Enroll today.
